听力原文:W: So, you'll be getting dressed up later--before you go to the BBC television studios.

M: Yes, but to tell you the truth, Mary, I prefer working in radio.

W: You prefer radio?

M: That's right. You can dress down in a radio studio.

W: What do you mean?

M: You can dress down. You can wear something casual. There's no need to get dressed up.

W: Well, I always try to make an effort to look smart!

M: Yes, of course, you always look fantastic, Mary. But you don't have to dress up for radio. The audience can't see you.

W: Ah, I see what you mean. In TV the audience can see you, so you have to look your best.

M: Exactly. You have to dress up. You put on something smart so you look the part.

W: Yes. I suppose if you're on TV, you have to look like a TV presenter; you have to be dressed right.

M: But in radio, the listeners can't see you so we can dress down if we want to.

W: Yes. That's why I sometimes wear jeans to work.

M: Exactly. On radio, I can take off my tie! I can even take off my shoes!

W: I don't think so! You don't have to wear your tie--you can take that off if you want to, but please don't take off your shoes!

B.To the television studio.

听力原文:W: Good evening and welcome to this week's Business World. It programs for and ab
out business people. Tonight we have Mr. Angelino who came to the United States six years ago, and is now an established businessman with three restaurants in town. Tell us, Mr. Angelino, how did you get started?

M: Well, I started off with a small diner. I did all the cooking myself and my wife waited on tables. It was really too much work for two people. My cooking's great. And word got around town about the food. Within a year, I had to hire another cook and four waitresses. When that restaurant became very busy, I decided to expand my business. Now with three places, my main concern is keeping the business successful and running smoothly.

W: Do you advertise?

M: Oh yes. I don't have any TV commercials, because they are too expensive. But I advertise a lot on radio and in local newspapers. My children used to distribute ads in nearby shopping centers, but we don't need to do that anymore.

W: Why do you believe you've been so successful?

M: Um, I always serve the freshest possible food and I make the atmosphere as comfortable and as pleasant as I can, so that my customers will want to come back.

W: So you always aim to please the customers?

M: Absolutely! Without them I would have no business at all.

W: Thank you, Mr. Angelino. I think your advice will be helpful to those just staring out in business.

Questions:

22. What is the woman's occupation?

23. What do we learn about Mr. Angelino's business at its beginning?

24. What does Mr. Angelino say about advertising his business?

25. What does the man say contribute to the success of his business?

(23)

A.Journalist of a local newspaper.

B.Director of evening radio programs.

C.Producer of television commercials.

D.Hostess of the weekly "Business World".

听力原文:M: Hello.

W: Hello, welcome to "Advice" radio program. What's your name?

M: Jim.

W: What's your problem?

M: Er...well I'm er...beginning to lose my hair. Er, I went to the doctor, but he just said there was nothing I could do about it. He said it was probably hereditary. My father was bald by the time he was thirty.

W: And how old are you?

M: Me? I'm twenty-eight.

W: And are you losing a lot of hair then?

M: Well, it comes out a lot when I comb my hair and you can see a thin part on the top of my head,

W: Does that really worry you, Jim?

M: Well, I don't like it. It's old, you know, looks old. I don't want to look like a middle-aged man at twenty-eight. And I wonder if there is some special shampoo I should use, and if you could tell me one that I should buy, something like that, you know, to stop it getting worse.

W: Well, you know, Jim, to be honest with you there's not really a lot you can do about it, actually, I'm afraid. I mean, baldness is one of those things that, in my experience, you just have to try to accept. Some men find it more difficult to accept baldness than others. There is one piece of advice, though, Jim, and that's don't try to comb your hair over the bald or thin patch. Whatever you do, don't comb it over because that usually looks ridiculous. And the other thing that usually looks ridiculous is a man with a wig, that is, the false hairpiece. Don't let anyone persuade you to buy one of those false hairpiece things, because they usually look much worse than a bald man. I actually think bald men can look very attractive. My husband is bald and I think it really suits him.

(23)

A.It's hereditary.

B.The shampoo he used caused it

C.He combs his hair too much.

D.He is old enough to lose hair.

听力原文:M: Let's sit here and order some coffee while I'll show you some pictures.

W: Good idea. But I'd prefer tea, please.

M: This is Ted, my roommate. We live in the dormitory.

W: Is this your room? You certainly have a lot of books. How did you ever manage to put them in such a good order?

M: Ted did this for me. He is a neat person.

W: Do you like living in the dormitory?

M: Yes. Ted is a very good guy. Sometimes I leave my books and clothes lying around and he gets angry. Sometimes he turns his radio up too loud and makes much noise, then I get angry. But on the whole we can get well along.

W: Where did you take this picture?

M: That's a picture of us taken when we went to the beach during vacation.

W: You look so smart. This is a lovely puppy.

M: That's my dog Allen. He is now with my parents.

Where does this conversation most probably take place?

A.In a classroom.

B.In a snack bar.

C.In the dormitory.

D.In a camera shop.
