听力原文:M: Hi, Mary. Do you want to start the lab report after we finish this experiment?

W: I can't. (22) In fact I need to finish early because I need go to the psychology department to talk to Professor Catherine about a job opening.

M: You mean a job on Campus?

W: Yeah. And it sounds pretty interesting. It involves helping with your study on learning style. You know, about how some people learn best by sight, while others learn best by hearing or touch.

M: Yeah. I know that's an area of special knowledge.

W: Right. In the study she's taking some high school students who aren't doing well in classes and testing them to find out their learning styles. (23) Then tutors, people like me, will work with them presenting material suitable for their particular learning style.

M: That is interesting. Now will you mostly do the testing or the tutoring?

W: Both I hope. I want to be involved from start to finish..

M: Are you getting paid for this? W: Perhaps, but not much. (24) Anyway it doesn't matter. I just want to have some experience.

M: Yeah. And it'll be nice to help those students too.

W: That's what I thought when I saw the ad. You could do it too. You don't have to be in her classes to work on the study.

M: Really? Do you have any idea of the schedule?

W: Late afternoon then evening for tutoring. After all the kids are in regular classes until three thirty.

M: Actually that's perfect for me.

W: Then come along. We will save the lab report for later. (25) But we'd better do a good job on our experiment first.

M: Yeah. First thing's first.

(26)

听力原文:Torn: Hi, Mary. Do you like music?

Mary: Yes, very much, especially classical music.

Tom: Yes, I do. You know rock stars play exciting music and they always wear unusual clothes. I often go to their concerts.

Mary: Oh, do you? I don't understand why rock stars are so famous?

Tom: Oh, it's because of their fans that rock stars are famous and earn a lot of money. You know their fans go to their concerts, buy their records and wear the same kind of clothes.

Mary: I see. Did you watch TV last night?

Tom: No, I didn't. I went to a concert last night and got back home very late. What was on?

Mary: Zed Hawks was interviewed on TV last night.

Tom: Really, he is one of my favorite stars. He is world famous and he is also very rich. At least I suppose so. He has given concerts in twelve countries and sold over twenty million records.

Mary: Yes, you are right. He owns three magnificent houses, five cars and a private plane too.

Tom: What did he say on the TV interview?

Mary: He didn't say anything. During the TV interview Anita Lyons suggested that Zed should behave better because his fans imitate him.

Tom: Yes, go on.

Mary: He reacted very angrily, and walked out. The interview lasted less than two minutes. I was disappointed when I heard this. He really behaved badly. You know like politicians and film stars, rock stars need the public. They earn their money from the public. So why shouldn't the public criticize them? I'm not saying that famous people should always behave well. What I'm saying is that they shouldn't complain when they are criticized. If they do, they will lose their fans. I'm not a fan of Zed Hawks any more.

How do fans imitate rock stars?

A.They play music.

B.They behave badly.

C.They wear the same kind of clothes.

D.They go to their concerts.

听力原文:M: Hi, Mary.

W: Hi, Thomas. What's happening?

M: Well, I've decided I have to get a car.

W: You're going to buy a car? Do you really need one? I'd probably still be driving except that my car broke down last yean Instead of getting another one, I just moved closer to the university and went back to riding a bike—better for the environment, better for my health and 1 save a lot of money.

M: Did it really cost that much?

W: Well, when you think of insurance, rising petrol costs, parking plus maintenance and repairs, it adds up.

M: I know it's going to be expensive but I really need my own transport. It takes half an hour by bus each way to university as it is. But now I'm working at night in the city. There's no way I want to hang around waiting for a bus late at night and then walk 3 blocks home alone.

W: Hey, I think you've got a point there. So what kind of car are you looking at?

M: It's a 90 Ford. The owner is asking $2000.

W: That's pretty old. How many kilometers has it done?

M: Oh, I forgot to ask. I'll have to check tonight when I go to see it. Would you be able to come with me to have a look at it? At about 7 o'clock?

W: Sure I will, but I don't know a lot about cars. I do know one thing, though. I wouldn't buy an old car without having a mechanic look at it first. Why not ask Joho to come with us since he is an expert in this field?

M: That's a great idea.

(20)

A.He uses it for his job.

B.He spends too much time on the bus.

C.He lives too far from the university.

W: Susan told me I might meet you here, but I didn't expect it so soon.

M: When did you come here?

W: A couple of days ago. I've just been here for no longer than a week. Today I just had my first class.

M: How was your first class?

W: Well, I got lost and I was totally late!

M: Don't worry about it. It was a freshman class, so I'm sure that you weren't the only person who was late!

W: Yeah, the class was moved to another building, so I was late. But I don't think I missed much though.

M: Yeah, the first day is just going over the syllabus and finding out what will be expected of the students. Still, if you don't want to sit in the front, you'd better go there early to find a seat since the classroom usually fills up.

W: Thank you for telling me. Where are you going?

M: I have an appointment with my advisor. He is going to be mad at me because I am behind in my research for the fellowship! I'm supposed to have an outline ready by today!

W: Uh oh! What are you going to do?

M: I'll promise him a complete outline early next week. Luckily, I know something about this subject already, so I can whip together a short outline after biology class. That reminds me. I've got to run. See you later!

W: OK. Good luck!

听力原文:M: Hi, Mary. How's everything?

W: Fine. You know, John, I'm planning to go to Las Vegas for a holiday and would like to stay in a large hotel. Anything to recommend?

M: Er? the Hilton Hotel there is quite a large one. It has some 3, 174 bedrooms. It also has 12 restaurants and about 125, 000 square feet of convention space. There're a 10-acre recreation deck and a stage show dining hall. Over 3, 600 people now work for it.

It has 15 restaurants and 93 elevators. And it employs about 3, 000 people. The ballroom is known as the world's largest. Russians are not allowed to live in that hotel. And foreigners are charged 16 times more than the very low rate charged Russian officials.

W: It's unbelievable ? [ fade out ]

Who is going to Las Vegas?

A.John.

B.Mary.

C.Tom.

D.Peter.
