听力原文: In America, where labor costs are so high, "do it yourself " is a way of life. Many people repair their own cars, build their own garages, and even rebuild their own houses, Soon many of them will also be writing their own books. In Hollywood there is a company that publishes children's book with the help of computers. Although other book companies also publish that way, this company is not like the others. It allows the reader to become the leading character in the stories with the help of computers, Here is how they do it. Let us suppose the child is named Henry. He lives in New York, and has a god named Jody. The computer uses this information to make up a story with pictures.. The story' is then printed up. A child who receives such a book might say, "This book is about me." So the company calls itself the "Me-Books Publishing Company".

Children like the Me-Books because they like to see in print their own names and the names of their friends and their pets. But more important, in this way, readers are much more interested in reading the stories. Me-Books are helping a child to learn how to read.

听力原文: In the 19th century it was common to hear people in Europe and America say that the resources of the sea were unlimited. For example, a noted biologist writing in the mid 1800s commented that all of the great sea-fish industries are inexhaustible. Today there's evidence that the resources of the sea are as seriously threatened as those of the land and the air, and the concern of conservationists now includes sea-fish as well as the African elephant, the Indian tiger and the American eagle. Further, the threat to fish is more alarming in some ways than the threat to birds and land animals because fish are a much needed food resource. Many people throughout the world depend on fish as an important part of their diets, and a decline in the fish supply could have extensive effects on hunger and population.

(23)

A.That they were in infinite.

B.That they should be carefully conserved.

C.That they were declining.

D.That they were limited.

听力原文:Television in America gives people the choice of many different programs on many

听力原文: Television in America gives people the choice of many different programs on many different channels. However, many people today are criticizing the quality of the programs. According to these critics, there are too many programs that only entertain; there are not enough interesting programs that give information about the world around us. Perhaps the lack of serious programs is the fault of the commercial television system, not the fault of the people who own or who control the television stations. Television in America depends on money of people who advertise their products on television. Therefore, television stations need to attract advertisers. The programs which attract advertisers are, of course, the programs which have large audiences. And the programs which attract large audiences are usually programs with lots of entertainment and action. Programs about serious subjects, for instance, medicine, science, or history, are not very popular, so advertisers do not buy commercial time during programs like these. The commercial system, therefore, has a great influence on the kind of programs that television stations decide to show.

Why do many people criticize TV programs in the U. S.?

A.There are not enough programs to entertain.

B.There are not enough programs to show the life of ordinary people.

C.There are too many programs to educate.

D.There are not enough serious programs.
