It was almost 7:50 when we stopped outside the station, I paid the driver quickly, carried my bags and hurried inside.

听力原文:W: Well, John, how was your vacation? Did you visit all the places you wanted to
see?

M: Oh, hardly, but we had a good time just the same. We managed to stop at the old Ghost Town near Virginia City. That's what Jimmy was all excited about.

W: Did you go to Denver like your wife wanted to?

M: Yes, we stayed with her cousin for two days. We had to pass up the Grand Canyon though, because Jimmy got sick from eating too many grapes.

W: How about the stop at Indian Falls? Did you have any time for that?

M: Yes, but we almost didn't. We left Denver on Highway 14 when we should have taken Highway 90. When we realized it, it was almost dark. Still we got there in time to take a few pictures.

W: Where else did you go?

M: Well, we went through Phoenix, Arizona. We all liked that. But we had some trouble with the car there. We had to stay an extra day because of that.

W: I bet that made you mad.

M: It sure did, especially because I had the guy at the garage give the car a checkup just before we left home, and he said the car was in excellent condition. Still I can't complain. I was able to get in some extra fishing because of the delay. I went out with the man who was staying in the hotel we were at.

听力原文:A(man): Hi, Mice. I hear that you are planning to have a dog in your house. Is that true?

B(woman): Yeah. But I am not so sure now. I'd love to have one because I think dogs are good companions.

A: Sure. I think most people have had a dog or wanted one as their companion at some time in their byes. If you are thinking of buying a dog, you should first decide what sort of companion you need and whether the dog is likely to be happy in the surroundings you can provide.

B: So. What's you advice?

A: Specialist advice is available to help you choose the most suitable breed of dog. But in part, the decision depends on common sense. Most breeds were originally developed to perform. specific tasks. So, if you want a dog to protect you or your house, for example, you should choose a breed that has the right size and characteristics.

B: I have not decided yet, you know. I just thought dogs are lovely and they will do things you want them to do.

A: That's half true. You must be ready to devote a good deal of time to train the dog when it is young and give it the exercise it needs throughout its life. Dogs are demanding pets. The best time to buy a baby-dog is when it is between 6 and 8 weeks old so that it can transfer its affection from its mother to its master. If baby dogs have not established a relationship with the human being until they are over three months old, their strong relationship will always be with dogs. They are likely to be too shy when they are brought out into the world to become good pets.

B: Thank you so much for bring such valuable advice, Tom. I think I am readier than before to have my own dog now.

Why does the woman want to have a dog?

A.Because she is lonely.

B.Because she loves to protect a pet.

C.Because she thinks dogs are good companions.

D.Because she just lost one dog.

听力原文:W: Hi, Larry, are you waiting to see Professor Jamison, too?

M: Yeah, since I got one of the five highest grades in her class, she asked me to work as her assistant next semester. I'm here now for my interview.

W: Oh, yes. I did that job two years ago.

M: Really? Did you like it?

W: I think it was the best I've had at school. It paid eight dollars an hour.

M: That is a good salary. What did you do?

W: I was in charge of grading all the problem sets that were assigned as homework. I never had trouble doing it, and Prof. Jamison was always available to help me.

M: I think it would be very good experience for anyone thinking about becoming a teacher.

M: The job sounds great, but I'm a little worried about how much time it might take?

W: It's pretty reasonable. It never took me more than five hours a week to do all the grading and then another thirty to forty minutes to record the grades on the computer.
